Common questions

Which Gulf country pays the most gratuity?

For long service, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain pay a full month a year after the early years, with no cap. The UAE pays 30 days of basic after five years but caps the total at two years of basic. Qatar's legal minimum is the lowest at 21 days a year, though many contracts pay more.

In which Gulf countries does resigning reduce gratuity?

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain pay the same whether you resign or not, once any minimum service is met.

Is gratuity paid on basic or total salary in the Gulf?

On basic salary in the UAE, Qatar and Oman. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain use the last wage, which usually includes fixed allowances.

Do Gulf nationals get gratuity?

Usually not. Gulf nationals working in their own country are generally covered by national pension schemes instead. These rules are mainly for expatriate private sector workers.
